Women's Welfare
Since its
foundation, our society has been dedicated to the task of helping women
in difficult situations, become self reliant and independent.
We have consistently encouraged women who are destitute, abandoned,
widowed or in dire circumstances to learn skills and professions and
to stand on their own feet.

We initiated welfare schemes for women at Sholinganallore and
Karaipakkam by training them to set up their own vegetable gardens and
sell the produce; dairy farming, in spirulina cultivation, baking, textile printing and
batik.
Over the years, we have trained women in our creche training schemes,
pre-primary education programs and teacher's training schemes to become
economically independent.
We generate savings for orphan/destitute and poor girls to enable them
to get married and set up their own households.
We have also consistently encouraged widow remarriage, inter-caste and
inter-religious marriages for our staff members; we have promoted
awareness of the importance of the girl child; and have opposed
practices which degrade women.
